New Pennsylvania E-Waste Recycling Law

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

PA-DEP-logo 2Beginning January 24, 2013 most electronic waste in Pennsylvania will no longer be allowed in landfills. A new law, the Covered Device Recycling Act, prohibits both consumers and businesses from disposing of their e-wastes through the normal trash system.

Instead, users of electronics will need to recycle their e-waste, including spent televisions, desktop and laptop computers, computer monitors, accessories such as printers, and tablet computers such as iPads or Kindles. Pennsylvania is one of about 25 states that have implemented e-waste disposal laws in the past decade.
