New State E-Waste Regulations Update

Electronics TakeBack Coalition

So far, 25 states have passed legislation mandating statewide e-waste recycling. Several more states have introduced legislation in 2011 (in yellow below). All laws except California use the Producer Responsibility approach, where the manufacturers must pay for recycling. This means that 65% of the population of the U.S. is now covered by a state e-waste recycling law.

Generally, the scope of products covered by legislation is getting broader, with more recent laws including more products including  printers, faxes, and other devices.

EasyPak™ prepaid mail-in containers from LampRecycling.com make it simple to recycle electronic waste, spent fluorescent lamps, ballasts, and batteries. The automatic reordering Sustainable Program minimizes paperwork, can be canceled at any time, and only ships a replacement container after the full container is mailed in. Click here to learn more or sign up now.
